This is a record of a past journal, for the people who may don't notice when I update it again and the reason for my hiatus disappear with a new topic, here (http://licantro.livejournal.com/39840.html).
April 1 - 2010
Yeah, no jokes here, I'm no fan of this particular day either to be posting something suited. It just happened that today was the right moment to post what I had in my mind and hands (the art). And post the updated of my current condition.
Where to begin? THE ART!...
Well before going into the list of endless excuses... I'd rather like to start out with what matters, the art here. Above is the long long long long waited result of the Character Conest that begun at the end of the past October and it was suposed to show the winners in... February?... Well I myself didn't put an exact date, but I was working in the meantime reviewing every single character posted and doing a chibi version of the characters.
So, the pic here (http://www.alphaluna.net/PAGINAS/20100401.jpg) is the FIRST out of 3 character winners chosen out of a total 46 chars. submissions. The next 2 should be posted next Thursdays. This is "Vigil", a charactter made by Moon-Hunter, a great person and supporter in AL forums. My preview review if this character was:
"A great character at many leves. Paticulary I liked the way he was "made" to be a supportive character for Luna or anyone. Not an elder, but a teacher, a husband, a warrior. His backstory is very detailed, rich and easy to understand how he became the person he is now. Scared but still with hopes for the future because of honor, one -if it's not- his best value.
Graphically well written and you can easy relate to his grief and the way he sees life. Details like his wedding ring, injuries made him even more "real". Good job".
I couldn't resist to make 2 human versions due the details over his body. And probably this won't happen again for the next chars. Then again it really deserved it.
The earthquake...
Well certanly it's been a rough month. For those of you unaware, Chile ( the country where I live) was hited by a major Erathquake (8,9 ritch scale) the pas February 27th, and a major Tsunami (seaquake?) hit the coasts of the middle regions. Close to 500 people died and 2 million of victims (houses lost...).
My apartment aftermath. So where was I? well in the 21 th floor in the city of Santiago, about 300 kms away from the epicenter which didn't lowered the scale of the quake one bit. It was shocking to say the least. It wasn't the first earthquake that I feel but certanly the most powerfull. I had vivid memories of my child from a past earthquae back in 1985, and I was pretty shocked back in the aftermath of those days. This time it brought back umpleasant memories and a hundred of problems.
First, I dodn't lost anything valuable other than a microwave that flew out of its place but my Mother's home (in San Antonio) got cracked quite a bit, and probably a bedroom's wall will have to be rebuild. Considering my grandma lives there and is close to 90 years old it was kinda difficult to them. Not only that but heavy aftershocks during a month took place and 3 weeks of no light and water we had to endure.
Microwave...gone.Computer Lab where once I worked ruined with hundred of bricks. So yeah it was quite 'shocking'. My mother is the principal of a small school there and it was quite damaged. A class-room was totally damaged along side the main courtfield. So instead of trying to rest we had a lot of work to do, yes I was there.
The city of San Antonio itself endured it better than back in 1985, but still it was tough for some people who could keep living in a few building because they started to resemble the tower o pisa. And 2 out 3 bridges collapsed or cracked. Not to mention the lost of several lives due a big wave that hit a group of summer cabin placed by the side of shore.

MY mother's school.Bridge to Santo Domingo from San Antonio.Of course all of the above is what I lived. But close to the epicenter to the south in the cities of Concepción, Chillán, Constitución and Talcahuano was the real deal. Half of those cities were just ruins. There are several photos of those places that have gone through the world view, and probably it wil take a few years to rebuild those places again.
My Status so far.
So, as you see I've been dealing wth some stress here. Actually it's been kinda traumatic to go back to my 21th floor. The first week I had dizzines and vertigo just to be there. I coudln't help it, classes started and the best I could do was to go back to normal and it helped. Aftershocks are almost gone by now and I've managed to draw again quitely. Before Febraury 27th I don't have much of excuses due my absence other than I took unexpected vacations and other unnecesary distractions and a "con" participation, I hope you can forgive me.
Even so I've never quite stop working on Luna. During january and Febraury I wrote the "Alpha Luna's origin" for pitching and probably i will get the green day someday soon for a local publishing. And if you guess right it depicts the story of Luz, Luna's mother and the fat of the original Lycanhtrope clan.
In other stories I'm doing a collab with "Vampiros en el Puerto", a friend's comic which is about vampires. I'm doing a small 8 pages spin-off with one of his characters who happens to be...a vampire-wolf?... well those vampires who likes to change into wolves too. You know... (roll eyes). Anyway is kinda fun. I'll show you more sketch pages in the upcoming journal.
What about Alpha Luna? Well, Due the earthquake itself this collab got delayed and me with my friend are behind scheduele, as I do the "vampiros" pages (3 more to go) I'll be drawingand posting the next 2 winners of AL char. contest and reviewing those who are pending in Alban's book (forum) since II still need to chose the 3rd winner. And also complete/advance into some pending comissions of other nature.
Due this I'm putting a start/resume date for Luna go back for April 30th. Until then... be happy? and don't punish me =( please. I'll do better, belive! ^_^
